Who is responsible

Alunox LLC operates The College Critic and is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. That means we decide how and why your data is used.

Data we collect and why

• Account details (email address, name from Google sign-in, login credentials) — to create and secure your account. Legal basis: contract.
• Essays, prompts, school names, and grading results — to grade your essays and keep your history. Legal basis: contract.
• Plan and usage information (your plan, number of gradings) — to apply your allowance. Legal basis: contract.
• Technical data (IP address, device and browser information, logs) — for security, fraud prevention, and fixing problems. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
• Support messages — to help you. Legal basis: legitimate interests.

Who we share data with

• Service providers that host the Service, store data, and run the AI grading (your essay text is sent to our AI provider to produce feedback).
• Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for selling our plans, managing subscriptions, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing.
• Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants.
• Authorities where required by law.

We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep account data and saved gradings while your account is active. When no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact Alunox LLC.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your data.

Cookies

We use only essential browser storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your work. We do not use advertising cookies.
